Indonesia and Brunei Strengthen Ties at Independence Day Reception
Gadong: Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Indonesia have reiterated their commitment to collaborative engagement within the ASEAN framework and through sub-regional bodies like BIMP-EAGA, aiming to enhance regional stability and prosperity. This commitment was emphasized by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam during a Diplomatic Reception held to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the event took place on the afternoon of October 20th at a hotel in Gadong. Representing His Majesty’s Government was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohammad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. In his speech, His Excellency Professor Dr. Achmad Ubaedillah highlighted the dedication of both nations to enhancing various areas of collaboration, particularly through empowering people-to-people contact. This includes cooperation between universities, focusing on joint research and student exchanges.
The event underscored the strong political partnership between Indonesia and Brunei, with both countries recognizing the importance of working together for the benefit of the region. The emphasis on educational collaboration reflects a broader strategy to build lasting ties and mutual understanding between the two nations.
