Proclamation of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections Winners Completed in Pangasinan’s 1,364 Villages

Pangasinan — Comelec Pangasinan election supervisor lawyer Marino Salas announced the completion of the proclamation of Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) winners in all of Pangasinan’s 1,364 villages.

According to Philippines News Agency, Salas said that as of 2 p.m., they were finalizing the tie-breaking process in two unnamed villages through draw lots. The first winners were proclaimed in Barangay Malico in San Nicolas town at 6:40 p.m. on Monday. “Proclaimed candidates could readily assume their post,” Salas stated.

The election office is still in the process of finalizing voter turnout numbers, with over 2.1 million registered voters in the province. Salas also issued a reminder to all candidates to remove their campaign posters within five days and to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) by November 29. Failure to file the SOCE twice would disqualify candidates from running in future elections, and winners would not be allowed to assume their posts.

This year’s BSKE saw over 57,000 candidates filing for candidacy in the province. Salas further assured that teachers who served as members of electoral boards would receive their honoraria through their respective election officers. Both the Comelec and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office reported no significant untoward incidents from election day on October 30 until Tuesday.
