Global IT Outage Spurs Increased Cybersecurity Warnings
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, BRUNEI – Following a significant global IT outage instigated by a defective update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which affected sectors including aviation, retail, communications, and banking, authorities have issued warnings about potential cybersecurity threats. Cyber Security Brunei (CSB) has alerted the public to be vigilant against phishing and social engineering attacks seeking to exploit the current vulnerabilities.
According to Cyber Security Brunei, these criminal efforts aim to steal personal information and financial credentials amidst the chaos. The public is urged to report any cybersecurity incidents to BruCERT via their designated email or contact numbers. This precaution is part of a broader effort to manage the fallout and prevent further damage from the outage.
