Second Edition of Global Media Congress Kicks Off in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi – The second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC) commenced on Tuesday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), following the success of its inaugural event last year. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, opened the Congress with a message emphasizing the ethical responsibilities and truth-seeking role of media practitioners.

According to Philippines News Agency, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan underscored the significant influence of media in shaping international cooperation and public perceptions, stressing the importance of values like honesty, integrity, peace, and non-violence in media work. He also encouraged news companies and agencies to embrace emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media, to enhance news delivery. The GMC, running from November 14-16, has attracted over 13,500 attendees, 5,500 delegates, 170 speakers, and nearly 200 exhibiting brands, surpassing the previous year’s numbers. The Philippine News Agency, a partner of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), is participating for the second consecutive year.

This year’s GMC features a range of notable speakers, including Luciana Mariano, the first female soccer commentator in North America, and environmental journalist Sophie Mbugua. The event also sees participation from Professor Neil Maiden, Director of the UK’s National Center for Creativity Enabled by AI, and award-winning filmmakers Matthew Testa and Laura Nix. The Congress has garnered support from several organizations, including the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau, ADNOC, and the Ras Alkhaima Government Media Office, among others.
