Four Fatalities in Dump Truck Collision in Olongapo City
Olongapo City, Philippines – A tragic accident occurred on Monday night in Barangay New Cabalan, Olongapo City, where a car was run over by a 10-wheeler dump truck, resulting in the death of four individuals. The victims, identified as Renz Tiu, Veronica Ng, Romnick Tiu, and Carlo Esguerra, sustained severe head and body injuries and were declared dead upon arrival at James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital.
According to Philippines News Agency, the victims were traveling in a Toyota Camry from Mariveles, Bataan, to Olongapo City after attending a relative’s wedding proposal. The collision happened as the car, driven by Tiu, approached a sharp curve along Jose Abad Santos Avenue and encountered the dump truck, driven by Domingo Faelanca Firmo, 56, of Marilao, Bulacan. The impact of the crash caused the car to go underneath the truck, complicating the retrieval of the victims’ bodies.
Firmo, who was unharmed in the accident, is now under police custody. The police report noted that Firmo, who was transporting the truck used in mining operations in Zambales back to its owner in Manila, admitted to feeling unwell at the time of the accident.
