Bandar seri begawan: Residents at RPN Kampung Lugu and nearby areas will soon witness the construction of a new mosque on a 7.7-acre plot of land. The foundation laying ceremony was held at the site on the morning of July 1st.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was attended by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs and President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, along with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, the Minister of Development. The mosque project, with a budget allocation of 9.27 million dollars under the National Development Plan, will have a capacity of approximately 2,500 congregants. It is anticipated to be completed by July 2026.
