Dubious Halal Status

The MANICARE brand Dry Body Brush has been confirmed to be made of boar bristles. The Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Syariah Affairs Department conducted an inspection on the product of which the halal status was deemed dubious, following public complaints on the product sold at one of the business premises in the country.

Confirmation of the status was made after the manufacturer of the brush, McPherson’s Consumer Products Proprietary Limited Australia, was contacted. To safeguard the well-being of Muslims in the country, the Department of Syar’iah Affairs has instructed the premise owner to immediately separate all of the brushes from public sale. Companies and other business premises are reminded to separate the brushes if sold in their premises. Owners, managers, entrepreneurs, traders, suppliers and importers are urged to be more sensitive to imported products by ensuring that halal products are not mixed with non-halal ones.
