64 CAFGU Volunteers Complete Training for Negros Anti-Insurgency Operations

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – Sixty-four volunteers have successfully completed a six-week basic military training program as part of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA), enhancing the anti-insurgency efforts of the Philippine Army in Negros Island. The graduation ceremony took place at the headquarters of the 62nd Infantry Battalion in Isabela, Negros Occidental on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Reconciliation and Unity chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., represented by Christina Loren Umali, director of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army – Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPA – ABB) and Cordillera Bodong Administration – Cordillera People’s Liberation Army Concerns Office, the program is a collaboration between the Government of the Philippines and Kapatiran. Lt. Col. Erwin CariƱo, commandant of the 3rd Infantry Division Training School, stated that the training aims to prepare volunteer reservists and civilian volunteers to join the CAA. The program focuses on instilling courtesy, discipline, respect for human rights, and the values necessary for effective citizen soldiers in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, as well as developing physically fit and people-oriented CAAs for internal peace and security operations.
