2nd Brunei Cybersecurity Conference 2024
?Understanding and distinguishing cyber threats and cybercrime are important as Brunei Darussalam continues the digitalisation journey. To address this, the country’s focus must be on strengthening national cyber defence, securing critical infrastructure, and collaborating internationally to prevent sophisticated adversaries. Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha stated the matter at the opening of the 2nd Brunei Cybersecurity Conference, or CySec 2024 at The Empire Brunei.
The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications underlined cybercrime prevention requires a proactive approach, including awareness campaigns, law enforcement capabilities, and leveraging emerging technologies like AI and machine learning to detect and prevent fraudulent activities.
CySec 2024 gathered local and international cybersecurity experts co-hosted by Brunei Cyber Security Association, BCSA and Cyber Security Brunei, CSB. Following a collaboration between Cyber Security Brunei
and Trend Micro, thousands of license keys will be distributed to students and small and medium-sized enterprises. Also held were the exchange of several memorandum of understanding, the Top Women in Security ASEAN Region Awards presentation, and prize presentation for the winners of the Cyber Battle: Capture The Flag.
