President Marcos Jr. Urges Solemn Observance of Undas; Security Measures Heightened Nationwide

Manila — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called for a “solemn and peaceful” observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, celebrated on November 1 and 2.

According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos advised the public to adhere to regulations while visiting cemeteries or memorial parks and to prioritize safety during travel.

In addition to the President’s message, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has set up 4,866 police assistance desks in public cemeteries, memorial parks, columbaria, and catacombs across the country. Over 27,000 PNP personnel will also be deployed as part of heightened alert measures during the holiday.

The Philippine Coast Guard has been on ‘heightened alert’ status from October 25 to November 5 to ensure orderly operations at sea transport facilities and the security of tourists. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has stationed its Emergency Medical Services personnel at approximately 66 cemeteries in Metro Manila. Fire Chief Superintendent Nahum Tarroza also ordered the deployment of around 1,000 BFP personnel until November 2 as part of government preparations for the observance of Undas.
