Department Cracks Down on Illegal Employment Practices in Brunei Muara District

Bandar seri begawan: The Department of Immigration and National Registration has issued a stern reminder to the public that working on a visit pass without valid permission constitutes a violation under the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17. This announcement comes on the heels of a recent enforcement effort, Operasi Panyap, which targeted three locations within the Brunei Muara District.

According to Radio Television Brunei, during the operation at a restaurant in Mukim Gadong B, authorities apprehended two foreigners for engaging in employment activities while on a visit pass. The crackdown extended to a parking area in Mukim Gadong ‘B’, where two more foreigners were arrested for similar offences.

Further enforcement actions were taken at a rental house in Mukim Berakas B, resulting in the detention of seven foreigners. Of those detained, six were found to be working on visit passes, while another individual was suspected of working for an employer different from the one specified in their documentation.
