Davao City Mobilizes Aid for 200 Families Affected by Devastating Fire
DAVAO CITY — The Davao City government is actively providing relief to 203 families devastated by a recent fire in Barangay 2-A, offering comprehensive support including psychological aid, hot meals, and temporary housing.
According to Philippines News Agency, the City Social Welfare and Development Office has been instrumental in delivering psychological first aid and deploying a mobile kitchen to cater to the needs of the displaced families. The affected residents are currently housed in modular tents at the designated evacuation site where they receive hot meals.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao City Fire District reported that the fire resulted in two fatalities and one injury, destroying approximately 150 houses. The tragic incident led to the loss of two young lives, male cousins aged 11 and 14, whose bodies were discovered in the restroom of their home. The estimated damage to properties has reached PHP2.25 million.
In response to the crisis, the Office of 1st Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte, through his son Rodrigo ‘Rigo’ Duterte II, provided immediate assistance by distributing food packs, bottled water, and hot porridge to the victims at the evacuation area. “We will continue to assist in the coming days,” Duterte affirmed.
Additionally, the city government has established a donation drop-off point to facilitate community support for the fire victims, ensuring ongoing aid and resources during their recovery.
