CIPTA Award Fosters Innovative and Creative Minds

The Crown Prince Creative, Innovative Products and Technological Advancement, CIPTA Award; held recently was able to encourage positive development among youths including students, to be more innovative and creative. This was proven when a group of Year 8 students from the Rimba Secondary School came up with the idea of a ‘School Gizmo Watch’ or smart watch that can assist the school in managing the learning and teaching system in a more orderly manner. At the Crown Prince CIPTA Award 2021, the ‘School Gizmo Watch’ project won third place in the ‘Smart Junior Competition’ Category.

The ‘School Gizmo Watch’ idea was inspired by three Year 8 students, Dayang Nur Sabrina binti Iskandar, Awang Muhd Haziq bin Haji Musa and Awang Adib bin A. Roslan. Through the idea, it can assist the school in the management of the learning and teaching system as well as facilitates the students’ affairs in any school activities in a more orderly manner.

The ‘School Gizmo Watch’ project or smart watch has six functions that will assist all school activities more easily, quickly and effectively. By utilising the latest technology, information related to student activities will also be recorded automatically.

Apart from making it easier for teachers to record points for students’ co-curricular activities just by scanning the QR code, students can also find out the ‘Demerit points’ and be notified of the next subject within two minutes before the class ends.
