Central Visayas Transport Groups Decline Participation in Upcoming Strike

CEBU CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Central Visayas (LTFRB) confirmed on Friday that local transport groups would not support the upcoming three-day transport strike starting November 20. This announcement follows the progressive group Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston) declaring its intention to protest against the government’s public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program.

According to Philippines News Agency, various transport groups affiliated with the Department of Transportation’s Office of the Transport Cooperative and corporations have committed to continue serving the public and not participate in the service stoppage. The Federation of Cebu Transport Cooperative (FCTC), Kaluha Twin Trading and Services Corp., and Lapu Lapu City United Transport Group (LUTG) have all condemned the planned disruption. Eleven cooperatives under the FCTC and nine cooperatives under the LUTG, along with Kaluha Twin, have expressed their dedication to prioritize commuter welfare and maintain service continuity, highlighting their role in providing essential transport services to the community.
