Cebu’s ‘Suroy-Suroy Sugbo’ to Highlight Southern Towns’ Religious Cultural Heritage
Cebu City, Philippines – Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has announced the upcoming ‘Suroy-Suroy Sugbo’ tourism event in Cebu, which will focus on showcasing the religious cultural heritage of the southern tourism corridor. The three-day escapade, scheduled from November 30 to December 2, will highlight the unique delicacies, culture, arts, and heritage of each town.
According to Philippines News Agency, the ‘Southern Heritage Trail’ activity will feature visits to century-old churches in towns such as Talisay City, Minglanilla, Naga City, San Fernando, Carcar, Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Boljoon, and Oslob. She encouraged mayors to coordinate with parish priests to prepare their churches, highlighting attractions like the age-old retablos, chandeliers, and sacred images.
The Cebu Provincial Tourism Office has opened registration for visitors and tourists interested in experiencing the cultural and religious heritage of southern Cebu. Tour packages, ranging from PHP11,650 to PHP14,850, include meals, lodging, a tour kit, and services of accredited Department of Tourism tour guides. The tour will kick off in Minglanilla town and will include stops in various towns and cities, offering guests an excursion-like experience through Cebu’s rich heritage.
