Caraga Police Seize 88 Loose Firearms and 9 Explosives in Three-Week Operation

BUTUAN CITY — The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) reported the confiscation of 88 loose firearms and nine explosives during 90 police operations conducted over three weeks.

According to Philippines News Agency, 81 of the loose firearms were seized through Oplan Bakal (Steel), six through Oplan Katok (Knock), and one from a New People’s Army rebel who surrendered during this period. Four of the explosives were confiscated in Agusan del Norte, three in Surigao del Sur, and one each in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands.

The largest number of loose firearms seized came from Surigao del Norte with 27, followed by Surigao del Sur with 17, Agusan del Norte with 16, Agusan del Sur with nine, Butuan City with nine, and Dinagat Islands with seven. The remaining firearms were confiscated during operations by the regional mobile units of the PRO-13.

PRO-13 stated that it will continue to intensify its campaigns against loose firearms to ensure the safety and security of residents in the region.
