Business Tithe Money Presentation
The amount of zakat or tithe collection in 2022 showed an increase of more than 15 percent compared to 2021. While the collection for 2023, as of July, is estimated to be 77 percent of the total collection in 2022. To ensure that the management of zakat money including its collection and distribution is carried out in an orderly and efficient, the handling of the collection and distribution of zakat in the country is the responsibility of the Department of Zakat, Waqaf and Baitulmal starting last July. This morning, the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB received business tithe money amounting to 20 thousand dollars from Al-Bukhari Textile Centre Sendirian Berhad. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The business tithe money was handed over by Awang Waheed Alam, the company’s director to Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the Yang Di-Pertua of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council.
