Brunei Sultan Attends Plenary Session of 47th ASEAN Summit

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the Plenary Session of the 47th ASEAN Summit. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen. At the Plenary Session, His Majesty congratulated Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim on Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and extended Brunei Darussalam’s support to President Ferdinand Marcos Junior and the Philippines for their Chairmanship of ASEAN next year.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Plenary Session included the Handover Ceremony of the Second Protocol to Amend the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement. The discussions focused on trade and investment, energy, connectivity, multilateralism, and collaboration with partners to promote regional peace, growth, and stability. During the Summit, three documents were signed, and sixteen documents were adopted and noted by the ASEAN Leaders, including the Chairman’s Statement of the 47th ASEAN Summit.
