Brunei Darussalam Advances Commitment to One Health Initiative


Brunei Darussalam: Brunei Darussalam is committed to implementing the Quadripartite One Health Joint Plan of Action, a global collaborative effort to address health threats affecting humans, animals, plants, and the environment. The matter was touched upon during the opening of the International Health Regulations – Performance of Veterinary Services National Bridging Workshop which took place at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, 22nd April morning.



According to Radio Television Brunei, Doctor Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Gharif, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, added that the country has aligned its national policies with the global framework, and adopted the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on One Health Initiative, which recognises the critical need for a multi-sectoral approach to address growing health security threats. Meanwhile, Dayang Noralinda binti Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, in her remarks said the workshop can further strengthen collaborations between the ministries and prepare the country for facing future challenges, particularly under the UN Health Platform. Over 50 participants attended the workshop, including experts from abroad.
