Borneo Marhaban Festival Highlights Islamic Culture and Traditions
Kuching: The Sarawak Malay National Association is hosting the Borneo Marhaban Festival, a three-day event ending on November 2nd. The festival is taking place in Kuching, Sarawak, and has garnered attention for its focus on Islamic culture and traditions.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Mosque Affairs Department, has sent a delegation to participate in the festival. Participants were selected based on their expertise, skills, and experience, particularly in relation to the Brunei Dikir. This presentation aims to showcase the unique elements of Islamic culture and traditions from Brunei Darussalam.
One of the main objectives of the Borneo Marhaban Festival is to promote Marhaban, a form of Dikir or Poetry, within the community. The festival places a special emphasis on engaging the younger generation to ensure that this aspect of Malay Islamic cultural heritage is preserved for the future.
