Bilateral Meeting Emphasizes EU-Brunei Cooperation
Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty held a bilateral meeting with the President of the European Council to discuss the strong partnership between Brunei Darussalam and the European Union (EU), focusing on deeper cooperation in digitalisation, maritime logistics, education, and sustainable development. His Majesty expressed appreciation for the EU’s support for ASEAN centrality and community-building efforts.
According to Radio Television Brunei, as the Country Coordinator for the ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations, Brunei is committed to strengthening the Strategic Partnership through the ASEAN-EU Plan of Action (2023 – 2027) and is looking forward to hosting the ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Brunei in 2026. As the host of the ASEAN Centre for Climate Change, His Majesty emphasized Brunei’s interest in promoting collaboration in research, data-sharing, and capacity building to enhance regional climate action.
Brunei aims to work closely with the EU to advance renewable energy, green innovation, and climate resilience. His Majesty also extended an invitation to His Excellency to visit Brunei at a mutually convenient date. The relationship between Brunei Darussalam and the European Union is long-standing, characterized by cooperation in trade, sustainable development, and various global issues, including cultural, educational, and security dialogue.
