Bandar seri begawan: The Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) is set to fully assume all food safety responsibilities in the Tutong District and Temburong District from the Ministry of Health, starting on July 1, 2026. This shift is part of BDFA's commitment to enhancing and streamlining food safety governance across the nation. It marks a crucial step towards developing a more integrated and coordinated food safety system in Brunei Darussalam, thereby bolstering regulatory oversight and supporting BDFA's mission to ensure safe and quality food throughout the country.
According to Radio Television Brunei, BDFA will handle various food safety services in both districts. These responsibilities include conducting food safety and hygiene inspections, carrying out food sampling activities, and monitoring compliance. Additionally, BDFA will offer food safety advisory and consultation services, investigate food safety complaints and incidents, and organize training programs for food handlers. They will also implement public awareness and educational initiatives on food safety, collaborating with relevant government agencies and food industry stakeholders to promote safe food practices.
