Bandar Seri Begawan Court Charges Two Men for Vape Contraband Offences


Bandar Seri Begawan: Two local men were charged in the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court for offences under the Excise Order 2006. Haji Mohaidi bin Haji Mahari, 42, faced charges for possessing 151 bottles of vape juice and 450 units of various branded vapes without authorisation. Additionally, he was charged with possessing 124 units of vape equipment, also without authorisation. For these offences, he was fined $29,140 or 15 months imprisonment in default for the first charge, and $8,896 or 8 months imprisonment in default for the second. The total fine imposed was $38,036, or a total of 23 months imprisonment in default. All contraband, along with $683 in cash, was seized to be handed over to the government for further action.



According to Radio Television Brunei, Mohammad Arif bin Haji Mesari, 35, faced similar charges in the same court. He was accused of possessing 151 bottles of vape juice and 450 units of various branded vapes without authorisation, as well as 124 units of vape equipment without authorisation. Like Haji Mohaidi, he was fined $29,140 or 15 months imprisonment in default for the first offence, and $8,896 or 8 months imprisonment in default for the second. The total fine amounted to $38,036 or 23 months imprisonment in default. The contraband and a similar sum of $683 were seized to be handed over to the government for further action.
