Artisan Skills Programme Empowers Local Youth with Culinary Skills.


Bandar Seri Begawan: 36 people participated in the Artisan Skill Program organised by the Youth Development Centre in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Department, Temburong District Branch. It was for the basic skills course of roti canai, capati and nan. The program aimed at providing basic exposure to the youth and community about the culinary and business fields as well as providing opportunity to participate in courses offered by the Youth Development Centre. It took place at the Youth Centre, Bangar Town in Temburong District.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the program was designed to empower participants by equipping them with essential culinary skills that could enhance their employability and entrepreneurial opportunities. This initiative is part of a broader effort to engage young people in productive activities and to stimulate interest in the culinary arts as both a profession and a business venture.

The participants, drawn from various parts of the Temburong District, were given ha
nds-on training in preparing popular local bread varieties such as roti canai, capati, and nan. These skills not only have cultural significance but also commercial potential in local and regional markets.

The Youth Development Centre and the Youth and Sports Department aim to continue offering such programs to nurture talent and provide career pathways for youth. The collaboration highlights the importance of community-focused initiatives in fostering skill development and economic growth in the region.
