Grenade Attack in Cotabato City Chapel Injures Two
COTABATO CITY — Two individuals were injured in a grenade explosion at the Sto. Nino Chapel in Barangay Rosary Heights 3, Cotabato City, on Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. during a church service.
According to Philippines News Agency, the village chairperson, a watchman witnessed two men on a motorcycle throwing the grenade into the chapel before fleeing the scene. Mayor Bruce Matabalao has announced that the city government is offering a reward for information leading to the apprehension of the attackers. In a public statement, Mayor Matabalao condemned the attack as a violent act of disrespect towards the Roman Catholic Church and its followers. The injured parties were identified as Maribel Abis, 46, and Aniceta Tobil, a senior citizen.
