Alcantara and Jones Clinch Men’s Doubles Title at Thailand Tennis Tournament
NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, THAILAND – Filipino tennis player Francis Casey Alcantara, partnering with Thailand’s Maximus Jones, secured the men’s doubles championship at the ITF World Tennis Tour’s second leg held at Walailak University Tennis Center on Saturday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Alcantara and Jones triumphed over the Indian duo of Rishi Reddy and Dhakshineswar Suresh with scores of 7-6 (7), 6-4 in the finals. This victory marks Alcantara’s second title of the year, following a previous win in Chennai, India, where he paired with Indonesian Christopher Rungkat.
Alcantara expressed his enthusiasm and optimism for future competitions in an online interview, noting his intent to maintain his current form in upcoming events. He and Jones are set to team up again for the third leg of the ITF World Tennis Tour, also at Walailak University, from July 14 to 21.
The 32-year-old from Cagayan de Oro City, who has already competed in 18 tournaments this year, has shown consistent performance across various competitions. Despite facing setbacks, including a finals loss in the first leg of the ITF World Tennis Tour and a runner-up finish at the Nonthaburi 2 Challenger, Alcantara continues to demonstrate resilience and skill on the international tennis stage.
