Albay to Launch PHP866 Million in Infrastructure Projects Across Four Municipalities

Ligao City, Philippines — Residents of Guinobatan, Oas, Polangui, and Ligao City in Albay Province are poised to receive a significant boost from PHP866 million in infrastructure investments scheduled to begin this April. These projects aim to enhance road connectivity along the critical Maharlika Highway, facilitating smoother travel within and beyond the region.

According to Philippines News Agency, the funding for these 15 projects comes from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ annual infrastructure program, appropriated through the General Appropriations Act of 2024. In a recent phone interview, Cabredo expressed his appreciation to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and DPWH Secretary Manny Bonoan for their support and commitment to the development of Bicol.

Cabredo highlighted the strategic focus of the initiatives, which include the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and upgrading of damaged roads, road widening, preventive maintenance, and improvements to off-carriageway areas and intersections. “These efforts are concentrated on the Maharlika Highway. The completion of these projects will significantly ease the travel to and from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, ensuring a more accessible and efficient route for the public,” he explained.

The projects are expected to dramatically improve transportation links not only within Albay and its neighboring provinces but also to farther destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao, reflecting a broad scope of benefits for thousands of villagers in the region.
