Sultan of Brunei Joins Kesyukuran Ceremony for 79th Birthday

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, participated in a Kesyukuran Ceremony alongside the nation’s citizens and residents to mark his 79th birthday. The event, which included Mass Fardu Maghrib and Sunat Hajat Prayers, as well as the Reading of Doa Kesyukuran, took place at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong on the late afternoon of July 14th.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony was attended by His Majesty’s sons and brother: His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by several dignitaries, including Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, and various ministers and officials.

The Mass Fardu Maghrib Prayer was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, who also led the Sunat Hajat prayer and doa kesyukuran, seeking blessings for His Majesty’s long life. The event sets the stage for the traditional Grand Royal Birthday Parade scheduled for July 15, 2025, followed by the Audience and Investiture Ceremony.
