Brunei’s Sultan Attends Malaysian King’s Coronation in Kuala Lumpur


KUALA LUMPUR — Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha attended the coronation of Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, held at the Balairung Seri in Istana Negara on the morning of July 20th. This event marked a significant ceremonial occasion, witnessed by various royals and dignitaries from around the world.



According to the event details, the ceremony was also graced by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, various Malay Raja-Raja and Permaisuri, state figures, and Lee Hsien Loong, the Senior Minister of Singapore. The Brunei royals were received by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his spouse, Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Dr. Wan Ismail, upon their arrival at Istana Negara.



The proceedings commenced with the royal anthems and included a salute of honor dedicated to the visiting dignitaries. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and the Raja Isteri then proceeded to the main venue to witness the official coronation, which featured traditional music from the Royal Ensemble and culminated in a Doa Selamat—a prayer for safety and well-being—led by Datuk Haji Munir bin Haji Md Salleh, a religious officer at the Istana Negara.



The ceremony underscored the deep-seated ties and mutual respect among the attending royalties and leaders, reflecting the longstanding regional camaraderie and diplomatic relations. It concluded with a group photograph session, capturing the unity and shared celebratory spirit among the leaders present.
