With the idea of helping people to find qualified Al-Quran teachers with ease through their website, Haji Mohammad Loqman Al-Hakim Bin Haji Hamdan, founder of Al-Huffaz Management claimed the first prize of the Youth Entrepreneurship Competition which was held at Universiti Teknologi Brunei.
The competition was organised by the Entrepreneurship and Economy Executive Committee under UTB’s Student Representative Council. Prizes were presented by Associate Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, the Vice Chancellor of UTB and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muhammad Abdul Qayyum bin Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sura Negara Pengiran Anak Haji Muhammad Bey Muntassir, Head of the Entrepreneurship and Economy Executive Committee. Second place went to Awangku Abdul Azim bin Pg. Yusof with his business idea where people can look for teachers around their area online through ‘TeachMeGuru’. With the idea of a powerbank where the battery can be replaced for just $1 for a new fully charged battery, Muhammad Hafizuddin bin Haji Rosli with his business proposal “Power Go” managed to claim the third place. Special awards were also given to two contestants who were presented by Loo Yau Soon, Managing Director as the Chief Executive Officer of DARE.
14 contestants made their way into the finals where they proposed their ideas. The purpose of the competition is to expose students to the effective ways of developing and pitching a business model idea through presentation, and to encourage youth to participate in pitching ideas.
