World Health Day 2023

Brunei Darussalam is committed to strengthen healthcare system through the principles of Universal Health Coverage, by ensuring the provision of services that are fair and accessible to all. The COVID-19 pandemic has proven that a strong basic healthcare is a vital component for preparedness in addressing any emergency, especially in supporting response as well as management of such emergency.

In a message in conjunction with the World Health Day, the Minister of Health said investment for a strong health system is critical for the well-being of a society. Increasing public funding for health and reduce out-of-pocket costs can save lives. At the same time, it assists to achieve and advance the Sustainable Development Goals which are not limited to health-related matters.

According to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, citizens and residents in Brunei Darussalam are fortunate for receiving quality and accessible health services in all districts that are provided by the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through the Ministry of Health. Health centres are provided with the concept of 'One Stop Health Centre,' and are located at several strategic locations throughout the country. Said health centres can enable local residents to easily access basic health care. The World Health Day is celebrated every 7th April, and this year's theme is Health for All.
