The Voting and Selection of the Penghulu Mukim Liang candidate in Belait District also took place on 29th January. The voting was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Secondary School Lumut, Belait District.
Present was Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, Acting Belait District Officer. The two contending candidates are 41-year-old Awang Hasmi Bin Haji Matasim and Awang Haji Mohamad Yamin Bin Haji Abdul Ranni, aged 37. 309 residents of Mukim Liang carried out their responsibility to vote. Of the number, Awang Hasmi obtained 122 votes, while Haji Mohamad Yamin obtained 187 votes. Present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Md Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Awang Mohammad bin Abdullah, Members of the Legislative Council.
