Visit to Naval Special Warfare in Coronado

His Royal Highness 920 Major Udara Prince 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah made a visit to the Naval Special Warfare, NSW, West Coast-based commands in Coronado, California, United States of America from the 13th to 14th of this month.

The visit was a follow-up to His Royal Highness' visit while accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to Washington D.C for a meeting with President Joseph R. Biden during the United Sates-ASEAN Special Summit last year to continue security cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the United States and Brunei Darussalam. Since the signing of the Treaty of Peace, Friendship, Commerce and Navigation over 170 years ago, Brunei Darussalam and the United States have focused on strengthening and maintaining the friendship through joint exercises, training programmes and other military cooperation with the annual 'Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training', CARAT exercise as the core of the bilateral defence relationship.

During the visit, His Royal Highness took a closer look at several facilities and equipment at the Naval Special Warfare commands including the 'NSWG-1 combat training tank', NSW Centre, 'combatant craft' at San Diego Harbor as well as the West Coast-based NSW unit headquarters. His Royal Highness' visit highlights the importance of the special operations capabilities to meet the challenges faced particularly in the Indo-Pacific.
