In the afternoon, the delegation from the Republic of Singapore led by His Excellency, Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of the Republic of Singapore including several Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Senior Officials visited the fisheries industrial sites in Tutong District. The visit was a follow-up of visits arranged by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism to industrial and agricultural farms to share and promote the latest developments and achievements related to the fisheries and agricultural industries in Brunei Darussalam.
The delegation started the visit at a farm of Syarikat Nur Nabai Aquaculture Sdn Bhd in Tutong District. His Excellency Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of the Republic of Singapore and his delegation were welcomed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The business is also a joint-venture company between local entrepreneurs and investors from Indonesia. The company is involved in breeding hybrid grouper in 19 ponds in 13 hectares site. The grouper fish from the farm have been exported to Hong Kong markets since 17th June 2017. The company targets production of 1,200 metric tonnes per year from more than 1,000 cages by 2020. All are exported to Hong Kong, with a total export of 30 metric tonnes per month.
The delegation continued the tour to Syarikat Golden Corporation Sendirian Berhad at Kg Serambangun Industrial Site in Tutong District. The enterprise is an ‘integrated’ company which conducts activities such as commercial fishing, hatching and nursery for sea-prawn fries, prawn breeding and fish processing. The processing factory is equipped with modern technology. It has successfully exported products to international markets such as Australia, Japan, China, Taiwan and the European Union (EU). The company has been awarded local and international standards certificates that include ISO22000:2005, HACCP, Organic Certificate, British Retail Consortium Certification, IFS (German certification) as well as Halal and European Union (EU) Certificates. Accompanying the delegation were His Excellency, Mr Lim Hong Huai, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam, Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Ishak, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and Awang Abdul Halidi bin Mohd Salleh, Deputy Permannt Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.
