CEBU CITY - The Philippine military has reported considerable progress in its campaign against the New People's Army (NPA) in the Visayas region, with 20 insurgents killed following 44 engagements.

According to Philippine News Agency, the operations conducted up to March 31 also led to the surrender of 27 NPA members and the arrest of four others.

Canlas highlighted the diminishing strength of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army in the region, attributing the successes to effective military strategy and operations. The reported casualties and captures, along with the surrender of numerous fighters, signify a weakening insurgency, as evidenced by the seizure of 68 firearms, undermining the NPA's operational capabilities. The military official urged remaining insurgents to surrender and reintegrate into society, warning that military efforts to dismantle the NPA's presence in the Visayas would persist with vigor.
