Following viral messages through Whatsapp on the Message of Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in conjunction with the International Day of Older Persons 2021, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports informed that the case is now being investigated by the Royal Brunei Police Force.

The Ministry said that the message has never stated that ‘Tap for 55 years is postponed to 60 years’. The public are advised not to be involved in producing and disseminating unauthentic and baseless information as well as not to easily believe information that is suspicious and has not been confirmed. The act of disseminating unauthentic information, let alone false and designed by those who solely intend to mislead is an offence and can be reported under the Public Order Act, Chapter 148, Section 34.
