Vice President Sara Duterte Urges Calm and Rule of Law After Quiboloy Arrest Attempt Fails
Davao City – Vice President Sara Duterte called for an orderly and humane enforcement of the law following an unsuccessful attempt to serve an arrest warrant on Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), in Buhangin District. In her statement on Tuesday, Duterte emphasized the importance of respecting civil rights and ensuring public safety during law enforcement operations.
According to Philippines News Agency, the display of force used during the attempt to arrest Quiboloy raised concerns about its appropriateness and the potential risks to civilians, including children. “I am one with those pleading for an orderly, acceptable, and humane rule of law and upholding of justice,” Duterte stated. She further highlighted the need for ensuring that the enforcement of law does not compromise the safety of the public or undermine democratic values.
The arrest operation, which took place on Monday, failed to locate Quiboloy, who is currently facing three non-bailable warrants for child and sexual abuse issued by the Davao City Regional Trial Court and human trafficking issued by a Pasig City court. Duterte’s call for calm and adherence to democratic principles reflects ongoing tensions and the sensitive nature of law enforcement in such high-profile cases.
