University of Perpetual Help Defeats Letran Again, Advances in NCAA Season 99 Semifinals

San Juan – The University of Perpetual Help secured another victory over Letran, finishing with a score of 73-61 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Arena on Wednesday.

According to a news release by the Philippines News Agency, Marcus Nitura led the team with 17 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists. Art Roque also made a significant impact with 16 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

The win follows a previous triumph over the Knights on October 15, where the Altas won 74-59. Angelo Gelsano added 10 points, all in the second half, as Perpetual improved its standing to 4-6, securing the sixth place. “Ang pinagtutuunan ko lang depensa, yung na shoot ko bonus na lang (I only focus on defense, the one I shot is just a bonus),” said Gelsano. John Abis registered a career-high 16 rebounds along with seven points and two blocks.

On the other side, Paolo Javillonar led the Knights with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Vince Cuajao contributed 11 points and two blocks. The loss has pushed Letran down to the bottom of the standings at 1-9.
