Unidentified Gunman Kills Eatery Owner and Son in North Cotabato


NORTH COTABATO: In a shocking incident on Tuesday, a businesswoman and her son were fatally shot by an unidentified gunman while they were serving customers at their family-owned roadside eatery.



According to Philippines News Agency, Maj. John Arvin Cambang, the Pikit municipal police chief, identified the victims as Betty Cadulong Lu, a resident in her sixties, and her 47-year-old son, Jonard, both living in Notre Dame Drive, Barangay Poblacion. The incident occurred at the Lus’ Pikit Highway Halal Carenderia, situated across from the municipal plaza.



Cambang, in a radio interview, stated that the police are considering several possible motives for the attack and have initiated a manhunt for the assailant. The tragic event resulted in the immediate death of the elder Lu, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Her son Jonard was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries approximately two hours later.



At the crime scene, police found empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol. Further investigation is ongoing, with the local authorities actively seeking the perpetrator.



Notably, Betty Cadulong Lu was the sister of Dr. Roberto Cadulong, the owner of Cadulong Hospital in Barangay Poblacion.
