UE Junior Red Warriors Set Sights on UAAP Boys Volleyball Championship Against NUNS


MANILA — The University of the East (UE) Junior Red Warriors are poised to compete for the championship title in this year’s UAAP boys volleyball tournament, facing off against National University-Nazareth School (NUNS) in a best-of-three series starting Tuesday. The announcement comes after the Junior Red Warriors’ recent victory over Far Eastern University-Diliman, which secured their spot in the finals.



According to Philippines News Agency, their success in the semi-finals was marked by a 3-1 win against FEU-Diliman, thanks to standout performances by outside hitters Jan Macam and Zyronne Montemayor. The team managed to overturn an initial set loss to clinch the match with consecutive set wins, showcasing their resilience and skill. UE head coach Raffy Mosuela expressed the team’s determination and hard work leading up to the finals, emphasizing their focus on skill improvement and motivation to reach the championship.



The first game of the championship series is scheduled for Tuesday at 1 p.m., where UE will challenge NUNS, a team led by the acclaimed Best Setter Jeffe Gallego Jr. NUNS earned their finals berth following a victory over University of Santo Tomas (UST), marking a significant matchup in the boys division.



In parallel, the girls division will see action on the same day, with defending champions NU facing UST in the step-ladder semifinal at 3 p.m. The NU Lady Bullpups, driven by MVP Kianne Olango and Davao-native Denesse Daylisan, secured their semifinal spot after defeating the FEU Lady Baby Tamaraws in a straight-set match. NU head coach Norman Miguel shared the team’s enthusiasm and commitment to overcoming previous setbacks, highlighting the collective resolve to battle through to the finals.



The upcoming matches in both the boys and girls divisions of the UAAP volleyball tournament underscore the intensity and competitive spirit among the participating teams, as they vie for the coveted championship titles.
