Bandar Seri Begawan: Over two million five hundred thousand dollars was allocated by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB as tithe money distribution for the poor and destitute recipients as well as Mualaf or new converts ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The allocation was from the collection 'zakat fitrah' and 'zakat harta' or property tithe in 2024. A Tithe Distribution Presentation Ceremony was held for 112 recipients from Brunei Muara District. The function that took place at As-Salaam Mosque in Kampung Junjongan, 25th March afternoon, coincided with an Iftar or Breaking of the Fast.
According to Radio Television Brunei, it was presented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the President of MUIB. At the ceremony, over $36,500 of tithe money was presented to the recipients. The tithe money distribution will also be credited to other recipients' account before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
