Three Unlicensed Individuals Arrested for Practicing Cosmetic Surgery in Iloilo City
Iloilo City – Agents from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) apprehended three individuals for practicing cosmetic surgery without the requisite professional licenses.
According to a news release by the Philippines News Agency, the suspects, identified as Ivonne Pal, Roselyn Panes, and Michelle Tamdang, were arrested in an entrapment operation at Angel’s Pretty Aesthetic Beauty Lounge in Molo, Iloilo City on October 19. The suspects were taken into custody after accepting PHP10,000 in marked money from an undercover client who had arranged for a nose lift procedure.
The arrested individuals are facing charges of estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code. The charges are in relation to Republic Act 10175, known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and Republic Act 2382, the Medical Act of 1959. The case is being filed before the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office.
The arrests were initiated following complaints from clients who reported experiencing “acute bacterial skin and soft tissue infections” after availing of facial rejuvenation and contouring services from the clinic. Further investigation by the NBI revealed that the clinic is not registered with the Professional Regulation Commission and the Food and Drug Administration.
The clinic had been advertising its services on Facebook, according to the NBI.
