Tadej Pogacar Clinches His Third Tour de France Title

MANILA — Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates triumphed at the 111th Tour de France, marking his third victory in this prestigious cycling competition. The Slovenian cyclist wrapped up the 2024 Tour de France on Sunday with an impressive total time, dominating the race that spanned over 23 days.

According to Philippines News Agency, Pogacar finished the Tour with a total time of 83 hours, 38 minutes, and 56 seconds, securing a solid lead over his closest competitors. He ended the race six minutes and 17 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Jonas Vingegaard and third-place Remco Evenepoel. This victory adds to his previous wins in 2020 and 2021.

The race also marked a significant milestone for British cycling legend Mark Cavendish, who concluded his storied career with the Monaco-Nice stage, having accumulated a record 35 Tour de France stage victories. Pogacar’s achievement this year also made him the first cyclist since Marco Pantani in 1998 to win both the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France in the same year, cementing his status as one of the greats in road cycling.
