Post: Sultan of Brunei Receives Chief of Defence Forces of Thailand

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, received General Ukris Boontanondha, Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, at Istana Nurul Iman. The audience took place on the afternoon of June 25th.

According to Radio Television Brunei, General Boontanondha was accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Akrapong Chalermnon, along with senior officials from the Royal Thai Armed Forces. Brunei Darussalam and Thailand have maintained diplomatic relations since January 1, 1984. The two nations showcased their continued partnership during the recent 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russian Federation, where His Majesty also met with Thailand's Prime Minister, His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul.

In the realm of defence and military collaboration, the bilateral relations between Brunei and Thailand are being reinforced through various activities. These include courses, exchange visits, meetings, and military exercises. Additionally, both countries engage in multilateral platforms under the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM), further solidifying their defence and military ties.
