KUALA LUMPUR — Sultan Ibrahim was officially installed as Malaysia's king during a grand ceremony held at the National Palace on Saturday, marking a significant event attended by high-ranking officials and international dignitaries.
According to Philippines News Agency, the event was attended by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, cabinet members, and notable foreign guests such as Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. During his national televised royal address, Sultan Ibrahim committed to governing with values of honesty, sincerity, fairness, and compassion, aiming to maintain the welfare and sovereignty of Malaysia.
The ceremony also featured a speech from Prime Minister Ibrahim, who extended congratulations and a pledge of loyalty on behalf of the Malaysian populace. He highlighted the monarch’s role as a symbol of unity and prosperity across all ethnicities in Malaysia. Malaysia operates under a constitutional monarchy system where the king, selected from one of the nine state sultans who also serve as religious leaders, holds the throne for a five-year term.
