Jacob Agassi Herrera and Alvin Bryle Gomez also played pivotal roles, with Herrera adding 10 points and Gomez securing 14 excellent receptions. The team faced a demanding third set but managed to hold off the Coast Guard, who closed the gap to 18-20.
St. Gerrard Construction-Benilde’s head coach, Arnold Laniog, provided insights into their strategy post-match. He emphasized the team's need to translate practice into performance and how they overcame the pressures of their opening game. Laniog also discussed his approach to roster rotation and player exposure, particularly giving second-stringers an opportunity to play and prepare for upcoming games.
On the opposing side, the Philippine Coast Guard's efforts were led by Kevin John Dela Vega with seven points and Lerry Francisco adding six points, but they could not avert a second consecutive defeat.
Looking ahead, Benilde is set to continue its campaign on November 12 against Davies Paint-Adamson, while the Coast Guard aims to secure its first win against the formidable Cignal team on Wednesday.
