Post: Speaker of Legislative Council Discusses Intra-ASEAN Unity with Singaporean Prime Minister

Singapore: The importance of unity in strengthening the intra-ASEAN mechanism, particularly in food security and the supply of oil and gas, was a key topic during a courtesy call made by the Speaker of the Legislative Council to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore at the Istana. Both parties expressed appreciation for the strong and longstanding bilateral relations in various fields, including economy and defense.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib congratulated His Excellency Lawrence Wong on assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027. The Speaker also expressed gratitude towards Singapore for extending medical assistance to the people of Brunei Darussalam. The delegation included Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusuf, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Momin, and Yang Berhormat Awang Zainol bin Haji Mohamed, who are Members of the Legislative Council. The delegation was in Singapore for a two-day official visit as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN legislative institutions.
