380 cartons of cigarettes of various brands were found by the Marine Police River Patrol, Royal Brunei Police Force during a routine patrol on Brunei River, early yesterday morning.
During the patrol, the police noticed two suspicious looking boats moving towards the waters of Tanjung Kindana. The two boats immediately separated upon realising the presence of the police, with one of the boats going towards neighbouring waters while the other boat went to the Kampung Perpindahan Sungai Bunga area. The boat was found and detained. However the operator escaped. All contraband including the suspect's boat were seized and handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation and action.
