Post: Six Companies Fined Under Miscellaneous Offences Act for Littering

Tutong: Six companies have been issued compound fines for littering in public areas, marking a significant enforcement action under the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021. The penalties were imposed following Operasi Bersepadu, a coordinated monitoring effort coupled with public complaints managed by the Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office.

According to Radio Television Brunei, YIH SOON CONSTRUCTION and KOPERASI PERSATUAN KAMPUNG LUBOK PULAU DENGAN TANGGUNGAN BERHAD received fines of $1,000 each. Concurrently, SAMDI ENTERPRISE, SYARIKAT IZZAT HAKIM SENDIRIAN BERHAD, HMBS SENDIRIAN BERHAD, and MEGAHOME CONTRACTOR SENDIRIAN BERHAD were fined $2,000 each.

The companies have been given a seven-day window to settle the fines. Failure to comply will result in the matter being escalated to court proceedings. The public, along with company and business premises owners, are urged to uphold environmental cleanliness by avoiding the disposal of waste in public areas, to prevent similar penalties.
