Post: Sighting of New Moon of Zulhijjah 1447 Hijrah Scheduled for May 17, 2026

Bandar seri begawan: The Sighting of the New Moon of Zulhijjah for the year 1447 Hijrah is set to take place nationwide on the afternoon of Sunday, May 17, 2026. Syari'e judges and officers from the Syariah Courts, the State Judiciary Department, along with representatives from the Prime Minister's Office and the Survey Department of the Ministry of Development, will be present at designated locations to observe the celestial event.

According to Radio Television Brunei, specific sites in Brunei Muara District have been selected for the sighting, including the Mutiara Exchange Building on Tungku Highway, Tanjung Batu Recreation Park in Kampung Sabun, Muara Town, and Bukit Agok in Jerudong. In the Tutong District, the observation will take place at the Bukit Ambog Hilal Building, while in the Belait District, it will be at the Bukit Lumut Hilal Building. To ensure a smooth process, the public is asked to cooperate by refraining from approaching these locations during the sighting. The announcement of the first day of Zulhijjah for 1447 Hijrah will be made immediately after the sighting is completed.
